![]() Screen had locked, and though my card was still tucked in the reader, which hadn't been moved, an error popped up on the screen when I tried to log back in, saying that the card wasn't inserted properly. With several important deadlines tomorrow, I wandered away from the computer to take a ten minute breather. I then immediately ordered a new spare, which came yesterday. I did notice that when I shook this new reader gently, there was no rattling noise. After searching my house for a while and panicking, I found the spare reader and it worked. Luckily, I had ordered a spare a while back, in case something like this were to happen. I hadn't moved it around much or dropped it recently- but for whatever reason, once I left my computer for a little while and it locked, the reader became nonfunctional and I couldn't get back in. When I shook the reader a little bit, something inside made a rattling noise. I reinserted it a bunch of times and it still didn't work. It lasted for six months before suddenly going kaput four days ago- lit up fine with card inside, but error on screen said it wasn't inserted correctly. Bought it several months back when my laptop's internal reader broke. ![]() This reader works for my government CAC card. ![]()
